Bio:

Kaitlyn Chana, a junior at Lake Brantley High School, maintains a 4.2 GPA.  She is actively involved in the Institute of Finance, Business Professionals of America and TV Production.  Her scholastic honors include the National Society of High School Scholars, Principal's High Honors Award, Who's Who Among American High School Students, National Honor Roll, Junior Achievement Outstanding Student Award and Business Sales Presentation Award.

She is the founder and President of her national non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness, Inc., whose mission is to create positive and inspirational homemade cards for children with life-threatening illnesses.  She has promoted her passion by speaking at schools, non-profit organizations, community service clubs, state, national and international conferences regarding how individuals can get involved and establish Love Letters Chapters in their hometowns.  These cards are given to Give Kids the World, Ronald MacDonald House, Florida Children's Hospital, Keiki Cards and some cards are sent with love through the mail to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Kaitlyn has also created a one of a kind Love Letters charity bracelet with Anna Ruscitti, distributor at Anna's Originals.  All the proceeds from this bracelet benefit Love Letters' mission of brightening the lives of others through Love Letters "Pen Pals" cards.  She has designed a Love Letters logo for shirts, tote bags, pins, coffee mugs, business cards and flyers so Love Letters will have a recognizable logo throughout America.  Also, Kaitlyn is the web designer for her organization at www.LoveLettersCares.com, which targets volunteers and explains in detail how she started Love Letters and how you can become a part of the Love Letters family.  Kaitlyn believes in the motto: Sick children need more than medicine; they need love and support from their family, friends, and their Love Letters "Pen Pals."  To date, her organization has touched over 10,000 lives through creating homemade cards.

She is an avid volunteer in the community by leading through example that young people can make a significant difference in their local communities.  Kaitlyn has volunteered at BASE Camp, Queen for a Day at Tampa's Children Hospital, Relay for Life, American Diabetes Society Walkathon, American Cancer Society Walkathon, March of Dimes, Kiwanis Club, Dignity U Wear, University of Florida Stuff the Bus, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Harvest Time International.

As a result of her love of volunteering, Kaitlyn has earned the Start Something Scholarship from the Tiger Woods Foundation, Daily Points of Light Award Nominee, Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Award, President's Gold Volunteer Service Award, Prudential Spirit of Community Award and Kohl's Kids Who Care Volunteer Award.

In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys kayaking, water tubing, volleyball, scrapbooking, and learning to fly airplanes.  Kaitlyn's future goal is to attend a major university to obtain a Master of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism, then go on to become a national broadcaster on Good Morning America.
